Itama 54 Sets Sail: The Italian Icon Reborn to Redefine Open Yachting

At the newly unveiled shipyard in Marina di Ravenna, a timeless name in Italian yacht design has made a powerful return to the spotlight. On July 11, 2025, the first unit of the brand-new Itama 54 touched the water—an open model that marks a triumphant re-entry for the legendary line into the open cruiser runabout segment between 50 and 59 feet. With unmistakable Italian flair and a bold new approach to comfort and design, Itama 54 offers a renewed sense of freedom at sea.

Stretching 16.44 meters in length with a beam of 4.73 meters, the Itama 54 is a collaborative creation by Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee—spearheaded by Piero Ferrari—and the Group’s Engineering Department. Its sleek exterior lines and stylish interiors are the work of Tommaso De Luca, who has carefully balanced tradition with innovation to bring a fresh identity to a brand deeply rooted in yachting heritage.

What immediately draws the eye is its refined silhouette. Itama’s iconic linear elegance is retained, but now accompanied by bold new features. The foredeck now houses a flush sunpad, blending seamlessly into the boat’s profile and preserving its visual purity. The transom is more sharply raked, giving the yacht a streamlined, sporty look, while new full-length side windows add to the elongated, dynamic profile.

For the first time, the passage to the bow is placed on the starboard side, a modern reconfiguration that enhances both convenience and ventilation—ensuring direct access to both the bow and the lower deck without compromising aesthetics or safety.

Step aboard and the innovation continues. The Itama 54’s deck layout has been entirely reimagined to deliver uncompromising comfort in every area. The exterior now features a double cockpit configuration, creating two distinct yet integrated relaxation zones. The aft cockpit retains its classic dining setup, complete with a convertible table, while the second cockpit adjacent to the windshield offers a protected haven from wind and spray when underway.

On the port side, a spacious and functional bar unit serves both cockpits effortlessly, reinforcing the yacht’s focus on lifestyle and leisure. Meanwhile, the helm station—positioned on the same side—is equipped with an ergonomically designed pilot seat and a state-of-the-art floating dashboard that enhances both usability and elegance.

Below deck, the layout maximizes both space and livability. The master cabin is located forward, with a guest cabin amidships. Each features its own bathroom, while a galley and cozy dinette complete the accommodations. Whether for weekend getaways or extended voyages, the interior offers a refined, home-like atmosphere that blends seamless functionality with classic Italian charm. It’s the kind of onboard living that resonates with yacht owners across Europe and North America—those who expect their vessel to be as comfortable and sophisticated as it is seaworthy.

When it comes to performance, the Itama 54 lives up to its sporting heritage. Equipped with a pair of MAN i6-730 engines (730 HP each) in the standard version, the yacht reaches a top speed of 33 knots and cruises comfortably at 28 knots. For those seeking even greater performance, the optional MAN i6-850 engines (850 HP each) boost the top speed to an exhilarating 37 knots, with a cruising speed of 33 knots.

This makes the yacht not only ideal for relaxed day cruising but also capable of longer, high-speed crossings with ease. As one Northern European owner put it, “The acceleration and responsiveness make you feel like you’re driving a grand tourer on water—but with the luxury of a seaside villa.”

Another Mediterranean yacht enthusiast shared that Itama was their summer go-to: “I can set off early in the morning, reach a quiet bay before the crowds, sunbathe in peace, and host dinner under the stars—all on one boat.”

Itama 54 isn’t just a vessel—it’s a complete lifestyle solution. This is precisely what appeals to the modern international yacht owner: the ability to transition seamlessly between leisure, entertainment, and high-speed navigation—all wrapped in a package of unmistakable Italian craftsmanship.

The return of the Itama line to the 50-to-59-foot segment is a significant strategic move for the brand. This niche, historically populated by competitors like Azimut’s Atlantis and Jeanneau’s Cap Camarat series, has long been a sweet spot for discerning buyers seeking a balance between size, speed, and livability. With the launch of the 54, Itama asserts itself as a serious contender—bringing sophistication, performance, and design pedigree back to a competitive segment of the market.

Beyond performance and aesthetics, the Itama 54 stands out for its meticulous attention to materials and details. The deck is finished in weather-resistant, anti-slip surfaces; interior woods and fabrics can be fully customized—from teak veneers to hand-stitched leathers.

Amenities like integrated wine storage, energy-efficient appliances, and ambient lighting speak to the refined tastes of the global yachting community. It’s no surprise that American and European clients are responding enthusiastically to a boat that delivers both modern sensibility and timeless Mediterranean style.

Significantly, the launch took place at Ferretti Group’s brand-new shipyard in Ravenna—a facility designed to support advanced digital modeling, precision manufacturing, and transparent quality control.

According to a German distributor on site, “Watching Italian craftsmanship meet cutting-edge production in this new facility gives us tremendous confidence in the future of Itama and the Ferretti Group overall.” This state-of-the-art production site represents a major investment in not only production capacity but also long-term quality and reliability—core concerns for yacht buyers globally.

The moment the Itama 54 was launched into the Adriatic, there was a palpable sense that something important was happening. Under the summer sun, the yacht’s gleaming hull cut through the calm waters as press, clients, and craftsmen alike looked on.

There was photography, of course, but more than that—there was connection. An understanding that this wasn’t just a product launch, but the reawakening of a brand philosophy: one that embraces both the beauty of tradition and the possibilities of reinvention.

By the time next summer rolls around, it wouldn’t be surprising to find the Itama 54 anchoring off Corsican cliffs, moored in chic marinas along the CĂ´te d’Azur, or slicing through the Aegean on a breezy afternoon.

The vessel’s adaptability, spacious sunpads, social deck layouts, and performance engines make it a natural fit for couples, families, and friends alike. More importantly, it meets a growing demand in the Western yachting market: for boats that are as beautiful to behold as they are thrilling to operate.

The Itama 54 doesn’t just bring a new model to market—it redefines the open yacht category for a new generation of owners. From its design philosophy to its engineering excellence, every aspect has been curated with care, purpose, and passion. It reflects a deep respect for what has come before, and an equally strong drive to shape what comes next.

And so, with the wind at its back and eyes set firmly on the horizon, the Itama 54 is ready—not only to navigate the waters of the world—but to chart a new course for luxury, freedom, and Italian soul at sea.
